Review of Mothers Ruined (The Survival Series #4) by Aimee Horton

About Mothers Ruined

Dottie Harris has a knack for stumbling into chaotic situations, gin & tonic in hand!

When Dottie and Henry Harris move to their new house, Dottie’s only desire is to make friends in the neighbourhood. But Dottie, just home from delivering her third child, is struggling to adjust to village life. Recently promoted Henry travels a lot, and the neighbours aren’t very welcoming (although that could be because when Dottie first met them, she had dyed her children green).

So when Dottie accidentally hears her neighbours’ conversations over her baby monitor, she can’t help but use the information in her quest to build new friendships.

Of course, eavesdropping never ends well, and when Dottie discovers that two of her neighbours are having an affair, she’s horrified. Worse still, the locals are convinced she’s the one who’s doing the cheating. It’s up to Dottie to clear her name and expose the real cheat—in her signature haphazard way!

My Review

I adore Dottie, she makes it difficult to find fault with her intentional and unintentional antics. I empathize with her plight being a newbie in the neighborhood, therefore I cut her a break by forgiving the manner allowing her to bust the tight inner neighbor circle. Admittedly her ‘discovery’ was very amusing and educational as we soon discover, talk about domino effect. I’m comforted to know no matter what her bestie Jane will always have her back and remain BFF’s infinitely.

Fun read, fast pace, leaving you smile. This book is part of a series, however, it is absolutely fine as a stand alone read.

Review of Survival of the Ginnest (The Survival Series #1) by Aimee Horton

51AZNVLS10L._SX326_BO1,204,203,200_

About Survival of the Ginnest

A modern-day diary loaded with parenting humor
Meet Dottie Harris. She was living the self-indulgent lifestyle of every childless couple… and then she had kids.

Struggling through pregnancy and motherhood, Dottie turns to social networking. She quickly becomes reliant on it, using it as a way to reach out to others and come to terms with the funny side of motherhood, whilst realising she’s not the only person to consider anything after 7 a.m. a lie in.

Follow Dottie on her journey—made up entirely of Facebook-style updates—spanning four years of her sleep-deprived life. She bluntly shares her worries, insecurities, tears and tantrums, along with the things nobody ever tells you about motherhood!

Full of humor and honesty, Dottie’s modern-day diary gives a glimpse into motherhood as she trades in her social life for the sofa and a bottle of gin, watching her children grow older while she grows less enthusiastic.

If you’re looking for a funny chick lit read packed with parenting humor, or simply want to know you’re not the only one having trouble parenting newborns and toddlers, this book about the ups and downs of mothering is for you!

My Review

Aimee Horton is hilarious. She is a woman possessing a comedic gift. No doubt any of her books will leave you chuckling out loud on more than one occasion.

Dottie is lovable, you will be taken with her instantly. If you’re a new mom, a mom from years ago, or are curious about motherhood you will appreciate Dottie and her adventures and misadventures.

In this light read, Dottie’s social updates are both hilarious and touching. Those readers that are mothers will be able to relate to Dottie’s highs, lows as she loving navigates motherhood with full-out enthusiastic gusto.

Sleep deprived, poo riddled diapered invaded, hungry Dottie will keep you smiling and laughing with her entertaining social media updates. Horton creates an imaginative read, wish social media was available on my many late night feedings with my son, don’t know if my update could compare with Dottie’s. Fun, comedic relief sentimental read.

This book is part of a series, however, it is absolutely fine as a stand alone read.

About Bidding on the Billionaire

Safety. Anonymity. Invisibility.

Those are just a few advantages of Internet “dating.” Even better, as far as Hannah Miller is concerned, is the fact that she can shed all inhibitions without worrying about what he thinks of her figure or her face. “He” is bikerboy357, the man who knows what Hannah likes, and wants her—every night—as much as she wants him. When he asks to meet, Hannah hesitates. But the temptation is too strong. And after one look into his sultry green eyes, there’s no turning back.

Cade MacKenzie’s never met a woman who’s wasn’t blinded by his billion-dollar net worth, but “H” knows neither his face nor his name. Her words are so smart, sweet, and scorchingly sexy that Cade’s willing to gamble she’ll be just as amazing in person. And she is. But even as every delicious encounter makes Cade want Hannah more, what he wants most is her trust.

It’s something all his money can’t buy. And now, Cade will do anything to earn it.

Hannah forced a laugh to cover the unease gripping her by the throat.

Apparently, her laugh sounded as phony as it felt for Cade’s smile fell. Gaze somber, he lifted his left hand, stroking his thumb over her chin. “You okay?”

She wanted to laugh it off, but she’d lied to him enough. The second time around, she gave him a more honest smile, though it still wobbled a bit. “I’m nervous.”

His fingers tightened in hers. “Mmm. Me, too.”

The quiet tone of his voice caught her, filling her with questions. “May I ask why? You don’t look it.”

Cade pushed the door open fully and pulled her inside the suite. She barely registered the click of the door falling shut before his large, warm hands slid into her hair. A bare breath later, he pressed her back against an adjacent wall.

“Because I’ve been dying to do this.” He covered her mouth with his, and any thought of being nervous flew right out the window.

The kiss on the street had been sweet, a taste, passion withheld. The kiss of two people trying each other out for the first time. This one was a hot brand. It promised pleasure lay in her future. His tongue traced the seam of her lips, a question and a tease in one hot stroke. When she opened on a soft sigh, he plunged inside, his tongue dueling with hers. Goose bumps chased each other over the surface of her skin.

If his kiss alone weren’t enough to overwhelm her senses, his hands moved, stroking over her. Down her sides, over her hips to her butt, only to stroke back up her stomach and skimming the underside of her breasts. His body surrounded her, blocking out everything but him, and Hannah let herself get lost. She sought him out, as well, feeling over his firm pecs to his flat abdomen. She yearned to discover the hard muscle and warm skin beneath the fabric of his shirt. Yearned to discover all those luscious places that would drive him mad, make him gasp and groan. She wanted to remember every tiny detail for when he eventually went back to San Diego and she lay alone in the dark, craving exactly this.

“I’ve been dying to get my hands on you.” He murmured against her skin as his lips skimmed across her jaw and down her neck. “Do you know how torturous it is to be so turned on by someone you can’t even see? You have a way with words, Miss Miller.”

His use of her name had a shiver running over the surface of her skin. She yearned to hear him call her name in the grip of an orgasm. Her hips pushed forward, seeking contact with his body. When the softness of her belly brushed the hard bulge in his pants, she couldn’t contain a moan.

He nipped at her bottom lip, then pulled back and took her hand. “Come on. Before I fuck you against this wall.”

Review: Prosecco & Paparazzi (The Passport Book 1) by Celia Kennedy

26935978

About Prosecco & Paparazzi

When fifteen minutes of fame goes horribly wrong…

Charlotte Young and her five closest friends ring in the New Year on a ski vacation in the swanky, celebrity-packed French Alps, where her world collides with long-time celeb crush, Des Bannerman—aka “The King of Rom-Com.” Unexpectedly, Charlotte finds herself happily reconciled to an innocent evening of drinking champagne, gambling, and chatting to the celebrity of her dreams.

Charlotte’s friends join forces to help her realize her lifelong fantasy, yet his girlfriend, the latest Bond Girl, proves an insurmountable obstacle. Lighthearted banter turns into tabloid fodder and leaves Charlotte saddled with a restraining order.

With the help of her friends, Charlotte finds the answers to life’s biggest questions while trying to deal with the fallout of her fifteen minutes of fame.

Prosecco &Paparazzi is a contemporary romantic comedy about what happens when the paths of a celebrity god and a mere mortal collide.

My Review

“But let me ask you, if you had the chance to meet someone you had a crush on, what would you do?”

Fun read with a specific serious scenario appropriately placed rounding off the charming reading adventure. I enjoyed the jet setting, girl time, the celebrity crush encounter along with the huge misunderstanding leading to lots of fallout. Took me a while to warm up to the characters, in the end, room temperature at best. Charlotte grated on my nerves at times, her attitude was hard to take in large doses. Other times she earned my empathy, fair to say she was frustrating. Des, a pompous ass, archetypical celebrity with mega ego. The motley girl crew was entertaining, varying personalities and idiosyncrasies kept the plot charging along. Perfect amount of love, humor and strife with a fabulous ending. Prelude of what appears to be a great series.

About Celia Kennedy6965584

Celia Kennedy was born in Wurzburg, Germany on an American military base. Her parents’ penchant for traveling the world, via a Volkswagen Minibus with a Porsche engine, sparked her imagination. Staring out the window, sometimes through fog and rain, at other times at sunny blue skies, she began to make up stories for the places and spaces they passed by. The in-between time, the most fascinating to her.

The imagined world has always fascinated Celia. She has studied Landscape
Architecture, Architecture, Interior Design, and pretty much every other subject matter. Like her childhood, it was the ride that was the most entertaining, arrival at a degree, not anywhere as important.

Mark Twain said, “Write what you know.” When combining this concept with her unusual life experiences (working at a nuclear submarine base when Chernobyl blew, testing software Bill Gates kept close tabs on, travelling extensively while quite broke, or falling in love with her boyfriend’s close friend) thinking of what to write about isn’t challenging; there just needs to be more hours in the day.

Currently she is working on a full-length novel, Cognac & Couture, Book Two, The Passport Series, and What We See, We Know

Viper’s Run: Book Two

Winter Simmons received the surprise of her life when she discovered the man she had  been dating for the last two years was actually Viper, president of the Last Riders. Unforgiving, she turns her back on him, only to find that Viper is not the gentleman he portrayed.

Determined to find his brother’s killer, Loker James kept his identity as President of The Last Riders a secret from Winter. When the truth comes out, he is determined to make her see the real man who can control not only a group of dangerous bikers, but a woman whose life is a rulebook. Knox’s Stand: Book Three

Knox, a former Navy Seal, has been in several dangerous situations, but nothing compares to dealing with Diamond Richards. Framed for murder, he needs the passionless lawyer to prove his innocence. But when he no longer needs her help, he’s going to show her the passion she’s capable of and walk away a free man.

Diamond plans on earning her huge fee to prove Knox is innocent, but she had no idea the muscled biker could bring out the passion she kept hidden behind her designer clothes. Trying to find a murderer is easier than dealing with The Last Riders and Knox’s sexcapades. He’s going to find out there is one woman worth standing and fighting for, despite his desire for freedom.

Shade’s Fall: Book Four

Shade is everything Lily doesn’t want in a man. He’s rude, obnoxious and he’s definitely not a cowboy. The tattooed enforcer for The Last Riders is a mystery Lily doesn’t want to solve. He’s too much for her to handle, especially with the nightmares from her past constantly threatening her sanity.

Lily is everything Shade wants in a woman. She’s sweet, kind and submissive. When she discovers the truth about The Last Riders, it threatens to tear apart every relationship within the club. Her rebellion causes the predatory instincts to rise in the ex Navy SEAL sniper.

When The Last Riders are threatened by another motorcycle club just as determined to claim Lily, Shade is her only hope of surviving the approaching confrontation. Could their passion be Shade’s downfall?

Penelope Pope knows all too well that she comes off as just one of the guys. Since she’s learned that wanting more usually leads to disappointment, Penelope’s resigned to sitting on the sidelines when it comes to love. So why does Cole make her want to get back in the game? Review: Survival of the Christmas Spirit (The Survival Series #2) by Aimee Horton

25868159

About Survival of the Christmas Spirit

“Cooking for nineteen people will be a cinch!” Ever-optimistic Dottie Harris is preparing for the biggest and best Christmas celebration ever, and nothing—not even unexpected guests or running out of gin—will get her down.

But as always, things don’t run smoothly for Dottie, and it’s not long before her two energetic children, hapless husband and a nasty stomach bug wreak havoc on her carefully planned spreadsheets.

Can Dottie throw the perfect family Christmas (without so much as a swig of gin to help her through) or will preparing for the festivities get the best of her? One thing’s for sure: This will be a Christmas to remember!

My Review

Hilarious, sentimental. I empathized with Dottie, no doubt a few of us have been in her shoes at one time or another, granted maybe not as quasi catastrophic but close nonetheless. Certainly this family will not forget such a memorable holiday in more ways than one.

Despite the numerous mishaps poor Dottie faced they ultimately reenforced the fact no matter what hiccups occur it’s being together, sharing the moment that matters most.

Witty, quick holiday read sure to make you smile during this joyous and hectic time of year as it expresses the deeper meaning of coming together as a family at Christmas.

Horton delivers comic relief and a delightful sport in Dottie, looking forward to reading more from Horton and of Dottie.
